The “Phase 1 Presentation” by Private Practice Academy, led by Dr. LaRhonda Flowers and Yasmin Henderson, introduces aspiring private practice owners to the foundational steps of launching a successful mental health business. The session walks participants through practical tasks like applying for an EIN, selecting a business structure (LLC, sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation), setting up malpractice insurance, creating a CAQH profile, and securing an NPI number. It emphasizes identifying a clear niche, developing a business plan, understanding legal and financial considerations, and utilizing essential tools like EHR systems, web domains, and graphic design software. The presentation blends logistical know-how with personal visioning exercises to help participants define their dream practice, clientele, and services, setting a solid groundwork for sustainable growth.

The “Phase 2 Presentation” of the Private Practice Academy focuses on the essential back-end business operations for launching and sustaining a private practice. Led by experienced clinicians, this phase guides participants through setting up business bank accounts, understanding financial documents like profit and loss statements and balance sheets, and creating accurate financial projections. It also includes choosing and test-driving electronic health record (EHR) systems, writing critical clinical documentation (e.g., informed consent, HIPAA notices), applying for a Nebraska Medicaid ID, and beginning the insurance credentialing process. Through practical tools, group activities, and thoughtful discussion, participants strengthen the infrastructure needed for a successful and compliant private practice.
-
The “Phase 3 Presentation” of the Private Practice Academy focuses on building a private practice's front-facing identity, branding, and client onboarding systems. Participants refine their niche, craft a compelling value proposition, and develop a comprehensive brand strategy that includes story, voice, identity, values, and vibe. The presentation offers guidance on website hosting, logo design (DIY or contracted), and marketing fundamentals such as Google Business, social media presence, AI-assisted content creation, and online directories. It also explores selecting between office space, telehealth, or hybrid models, understanding payroll systems, and preparing for client intake. With tools for automation and onboarding, the session culminates in helping practitioners confidently open their doors to clients.
